Title of the article:The Relationship Between Circulating Bone Morphogenetic Protein-4 and Inflammation Cytokines in Patients Undergoing Thoracic Surgery: A Prospective Randomized Study

Published:Journal of Inflammation Research

Impact factor(IF):6.924

Author affiliation:Department of Anesthesiology, Xiangya Second Hospital, Central South University

DOI:https://doi.org/10.2147/JIR.S324775

Title: The main innovation of this study is to investigate for the first time in clinical practice the relationship between perioperative inflammation and circulating BMP4. By collecting arterial blood from patients undergoing lobectomy, plasma concentrations of BMP4, its antagonist Nogin, interleukin-1 β, tumor necrosis factor - α (TNF - α), and interleukin-10 were measured. Study the relationship between BMP4 and other variables, as well as the effect of flurbiprofen on BMP4 changes. Elevated circulating BMP4 during surgery is highly correlated with inflammatory cytokines. Flurbiprofen can alleviate the elevation of BMP4 and inflammatory cytokines, indicating that BMP4 may exert pro-inflammatory effects through the cyclooxygenase II signaling pathway.

This result may help improve our understanding of the relationship between circulating BMP4 and inflammation, and aid in identifying new candidate targets for future treatment of perioperative inflammation.

Title of the article:Shaoyao Decoction Attenuates DSS-Induced ulcerative colitis,Macrophage and NLRP3 inflammasome activation through theMKP1/NF-κB Pathway

Published:Phytomedicine

Impact factor(IF):5.34

Author affiliation:China Agricultural University/Chinese Veterinary Medicine Innovation Center

DOI:https://doi.org/10.1016/j.phymed.2021.153743

Title: The main innovation of this study is the combination of network pharmacology and molecular biology techniques to detect the potential mechanism of Shaoyao Tang in treating ulcerative colitis. We first predict important signaling pathways through network pharmacology analysis of "active ingredient targeted diseases"; Then, we validated our predictions using in vitro cell models and in vivo mouse models. It was found that Shaoyao Tang can significantly reduce the expression of mucin, occludin, NF - κ B p65, and p38 after DSS induction at the protein and transcriptional levels. In addition, Shaoyao Tang can also reduce the activity of caspase-1, rescue the release of ASC and GSDMD, thereby inhibiting the assembly of NLRP3 and maintaining the integrity of the intestinal barrier.

Shaoyao Tang can effectively prevent ulcerative colitis by inhibiting cell atrophy through the MKP1/NF - κ B/NLRP3 pathway.
